Orientation training workshop for traditional leaders in Zomba

The orientation training workshop for traditional leaders was aimed at achieving the second project objective which states that in settling land disputes, traditional authorities increasingly consider the codified law and strengthen the position of women in issues of land use and land ownership. The workshop covered key developments and stages of the land law reform process in Malawi, specific legislations in the new land law that support and safeguard women’s land ownership rights, and the composition, membership eligibility criteria and mandates of the customary land committee.

Property Rights for All South Africans

THE ROLE THAT LAND REFORM CAN PLAY IN EXPANDING PROPERTY RIGHTS

On the 4th of July 2018, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in cooperation with the FW de Klerk Foundation, hosted a conference on the topic of property rights and the role that land reform can play in expanding these rights. The public event, which took place at the Sunnyside Park Hotel in Johannesburg, was attended by 85 participants consisting of experts on land reform including legal practitioners, representatives from the private sector, and the academia, as well as civil society organizations, religious groups and ordinary South African citizens.
