Post NAFTA: US, Germany, Canada and Mexico in the Global Economy

Implications of the renegotiated NAFTA for future free trade agreements

The NAFTA agreement between the United States, Canada and Mexico will be replaced by the new US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The agreement was signed on October 1st, 2018 and presents a number of important indications about the future direction of the Trump Administration trade policy.

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is organizing together with the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS) a one-day seminar on “Post NAFTA: The United States, Germany, Canada and Mexico in the Global Economy.”The speakers will engage in an in-depth exploration of how the post-USMCA policy and business environment will impact the closely interlinked economies in North America and Europe. The conference will also focus on to what extent the USMCA can be seen as a model for future free trade agreements.
