Social Cohesion in KZN - a deliberation on complexity - Foundation Office South Africa
Discussion
Details
A space for learning and deliberation between civil society, academic and political actors to debate and discuss issues and ideas was provided, where those who care deeply about this country gathered to:
- Understand more fully the complexities of “social cohesion” from conversations with leading academics and social commentators in the field
- Engage each other with a view to listening and connecting
- Disagree respectfully, BUT, deeply when moved to do so
- Reflect on the possibility of how we might live together, given the complexity of our present context
- Discuss what political solutions are required to assist South Africa in moving beyond its current social divides?
- Develop an understanding of what work activists are doing and thinking currently
- Start building solidarity in civil society groupings
- Kate Joseph (GCRO) on the findings from the “Social Cohesion in Gauteng” report
- Alec Erwin and Murphy Morobe on social cohesion in the national context
- Brian Bhengu (DDP)
