22nd Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall

From Construction to Fall: Discussing old and new walls in Germany and Tanzania

On November 9th 2011 we celebrated the 22nd anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Further on August 13th 2011 the 50th anniversary of the wall’s construction had been commemorated. On the occasion of these two important dates the KAS Tanzania in cooperation with the German Tanzanian Society (GTS) hosted an event on the topic “Old and New Walls in Germany and Tanzania”. The invited guests, direct witnesses to the wall as well as representatives of the Tanzanian civil society were asked to uncover invisible walls in Tanzania and work together in finding solutions on how to dismantle them.

Interreligiöser Dialog

Die Rolle der Glaubensgemeinschaften im Verfassungsreformprozess in Tansania

Am 1. und 2. November 2011 lud die KAS Dar es Salaam in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Interreligious Council for Peace Tanzania (IRCPT) zu einer Konferenz zum interreligiösen Dialog ein. Anlass war die bevorstehende Verfassungsreform und die Absicht, eine möglichst breite Beteiligung der Zivilgesellschaft und der Bürger am Reformprozess zu fördern. Etwa 50 ausgewählte Spitzenvertreter der in Tansania vertretenen Faith Based Organisationen (FBO) diskutierten während der zweitägigen Konferenz die Rolle, die die Glaubensgemeinschaften Tansanias gemeinsam im Verfassungsreformprozess einnehmen wollen.
