Economic Order in Tanzania

Principles, Opportunities and Challenges of Social Market Economy

On Friday 26th and Saturday 27th of January 2018, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Civic Education Teachers’ Association (CETA) organized a symposium in Mwanza on the topic “Economic Order in Tanzania: Principles, Opportunities and Challenges of Social Market Economy”. More than five hundred students ― from secondary schools on the first day and from universities on the second day ― attended the event.

On Sunday, 10th of December 2017, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Zanzibar Female Lawyers Association (ZAFELA) jointly convened a workshop on constitutional and legal rights focusing on women and youth on Pemba island which belongs to the Zanzibar archipelago. More than 20 people took part in the event.

Leadership Training in Mtwara

On the 2nd and the 3rd of December 2017, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Christian Women’s Association “Wanawake Wakatoliki wa Tanzania” (WAWATA) of the diocese Mtwara jointly convened a workshop on the “Role and Responsibilities of Christian Women for Peace Building and Development”. The event took place at the Masista Secondary School in Mtwara. More than 60 people took part.

On Saturday, December 2nd, the Association of Quran Teachers in Tanzania (JUWAQUTA) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organized a workshop for the Mtwara JUWAQUTA Regional Leadership under the motto “Tolerance and Conflict Resolution”. The event took place at the VETA Hall in Mtwara.

First meeting of the Council of Religious Leaders

On the 25th of November 2017, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in Tanzania organized a meeting together with the Inter-Religious Council for Peace Tanzania (IRCPT) at the Golden Tulip City Center Hotel in Dar es Salaam. The event marked the first meeting of the Council of Religious Leaders of the IRCPT one year after signing a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between religious institutions of the United Republic of Tanzania and the IRCPT on cooperation to strengthen peace.

Am Freitag, 03. November 2017, fand in Dar es Salaam auf Einladung der EU-Delegation in Tansania ein Treffen zwischen ausgewählten zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen und dem EU-Kommissar für internationale Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung, Herrn Neven Mimica, statt. Die Themen umfassten einerseits die Lage der Menschenrechte in Tansania und andererseits die Möglichkeiten der unbeeinträchtigten Arbeit für zivilgesellschaftliche Akteure.

On Wednesday, October 18th, the Zanzibar Female Lawyers Association (ZAFELA) organized together with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) a workshop on the topic “In defense of youth and women’s constitutional and legal rights”. The event took place at the Maru Maru Hotel at Unguja and was the first joint event between ZAFELA and KAS.

On Friday, October 6th and Saturday, October 7th 2017, the Civic Education Teachers' Association (CETA) organized together with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) a two-day symposium on the topic of “Employment and Natural Resources in Tanzania – Opportunities and Challenges for Youth”. The event took place at Teofilo Kisanji University (TEKU) in Mbeya, a city surrounded by a vast amount of natural resources. It targeted secondary school students and their teachers as well as college and university students.
