Religion and Democracy in Thailand - Foundation Office Thailand
Single title
There is a growing power of faith in people's lives and, as a consequence, in their political preferences. The challenge is to contribute to a serious debate about the ways in which religion and the state should relate to each other, about how to reconcile faith with modern, pluralistic democracy. The relationship and interaction between religion and democracy in majority Buddhist Thai polity, which is also inhibited by followers of other major religions, has a long and continuing history. It remains a topic of ongoing interest.
The main objective of this book is to give a forum to Thai and international academicians and public figures to examine and discuss about the status of religion in Thai democracy.
