Principle of Participatory Democracy

Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Thailand together with the Office of The Secretariat of the Senate (SOS) Acting as Secretariat of the National Legislative Assembly have co-organized a training workshop under the Strengthening Local Communities and Local Leaders project, the Process of Strengthening Participatory Democracy Leadership Course between 24 – 28 May 2015 at Furama hotel, Chiang Mai.

This training addresses community leaders and students from various provinces to promote the idea of participatory democracy in Thailand Reform by using participatory learning methods. In this occasion, Prof. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, President of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has given an honor to give an opening remark and orientation.

This seminar is under the Strengthening Local Communities and Local Leaders project, which aims to disseminate knowledge of participatory democracy and the National Legislative Assembly. Besides getting knowledge, this project also promotes people in the political participation; build up positive attitude among the local leaders and youth towards democracy and politics.

In this activity, the member of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), Dr. Jate Sirataranon, Chairman of NLA Committee on Public Health and General Sakon Satjanit, Chairman of the energy committee have given a lecture on the authority of the NLA in the context of the mission of the commission as well as Mrs. Kanchanarat Leewiroj, Secretary of the Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC), who give knowledge and understanding of constitution drafting process.
