The strategic objective of the training programme is to increase transformative representation of women in political and decision making positions. This is will amplify the voicing of women’s concerns and monitor effective implementation of government commitments on gender equality promotion. The general elections concluded in March 2011, led to new women leaders assuming office. There is a need for them to acquire knowledge and leadership skills to effectively voice women’s concerns and monitor implementation of government commitments for the promotion of women rights. Women’s greater representation and participation in political decision-making is practical and effective for the long-term benefit of all citizens.
