Politicians and Academics Make Strong Call for Judicial Resolution Rather than Election Violence - Foundation Office Uganda and South Sudan

The 2015 Benedicto Kiwanuka Memorial Lecture focused on the question of election violence. The question how likely election violence in the 2016 general elections is was discussed, as well as possible solutions and preemptive measures to avoid violence.

The main lecture, which was given by Prof. Fredrick Ssempebwa, analysed the possibilities of election violence in Uganda and provided input concerning measures that can be taken to avoid violent outbreaks. The full lecture can be found here.
The following discussions also added political and civil society perspectives on the issue.
The panel consisted of David Pulkol, who spoke in his capacity as a member of the advisory board of the Citizens Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, who is a Member of Parliament for the Democratic Party and the Shadow Minister for Internal affairs, and Harold Kaija, Deputy Secretary General of the Forum for Democratic Change.
