Can the U.S. and Allies Agree on WTO Reform?

Discussion from a transatlantic and Japanese Perspective

On the occasion of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung supported publication of the study “The Importance of WTO Reform from a Transatlantic Perspective” by Thomas J. Duesterberg (Ph.D.) at the Hudson Institute, a conference convened where a panel of experts discussed the necessity and the progress of the WTO reform. The keynote speaker was Stephen P. Vaughn, General Counsel of the U.S. Trade Representative Office. At the WTO ministerial meeting in Buenos Aires in December 2017, the US, the EU and Japan came to agree that reforms and innovations in the regulatory framework are needed. Negotiations are currently under way between these countries. The experts discussed the progress made during the event.

Bei dem WTO Ministertreffen in Buenos Aires im Dezember 2017 kamen die USA, die EU und Japan deshalb zu der Übereinstimmung, dass Reformen und Innovationen des Regelwerks erforderlich seien.
