With a conference in the capital of Kazakhstan, the KAS country office commemorated the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Hartmut Koschyk, Parliamentary State Secretary and Federal Government Commissioner for Ethnic Germans for many years, spoke about the changes that took place on 9 November for Germany, Europe and the world. In a large panel discussion, the effects on Kazakhstan in the areas of state order, the constitution, the economy, education and training were discussed. A second panel discussion discussed the ethnic policy of Kazakhstan after the end of the Soviet Union, with particular emphasis on the role of the German minority in the relationship between Kazakhstan and Germany.
