In cooperation with the Ecologic Institute, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation is organizing the Arctic Summer College – a virtually convened online seminar from June 25 to August 13 2015 – with weekly discussions led by expert speakers from key Arctic institutions to talk about future challenges and opportunities the region is facing.
The Arctic region is a unique place at a unique moment in time, undergoing some radical changes due to the transforming global community. The current circumstances offer policy makers the chance to set a new course for establishing models of governance sustainability, while taking both the expanding natural resource development as well as the rights of indigenous people into consideration. The program brings 20 emerging leaders with different nationalities and backgrounds together as fellows to build a lasting, policy-oriented network of Arctic professionals. The aim is to strengthen communication between peoples and nations, scientific disciplines and policy areas to improve and develop policy options and sustainable governance for the Arctic region.
