As a new entrant into the platform on which state houses of assembly have been trained for many years, Kwara State House of Assembly will have an interesting mixture of topics from different past workshops which are tailored towards the needs of the assembly in this first workshop. At this workshop, themes such as Powers and Privileges of the Nigerian Legislature; Budget: Models, Preparation & Tracking; Bill Analysis & Scrutiny: Consideration of the Kwara State Legislature Funds Management Bill; Legislative Ethics and Code of Conduct; Legislative Oversight in Collaboration with Supreme Audit Institutions – Role of PAC; Role of Assembly Service Commissions in the Operational Autonomy of State Houses of Assembly; Civil Society Organizations and Public Engagement in the Legislative Process; Legislative Agenda-Setting in Presidential Democracies: Priorities for Kwara State House of Assembly will form the basis of the training. The seminar is part of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s support to democracy, rule of law and good governance in Nigeria.
