The 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) is more than an economic policy document. Through the Five-Year Plan the political leaders of the P.R. of China present their general outlines for the development of China in the following decade.

In cooperation with former KAS scholarship holders from Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing, challenges for the current political, economic and social development in China were analysed. Besides the internal dynamic in the country, the participants discussed China’s new position in the international system and consequences for Germany and Europe. Against the background of these results, the participants drew conclusions for the work of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in the P.R. of China in Beijing and Shanghai.
