"Political Academy" of the ZHDZ: Winterschool

Interim evaluation

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized together with the with the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ) from January 21st to 23rd, 2022 the usual "interim evaluation" of the 15th generation of the ZHDZ's junior political education program. This weekend seminar always takes place at the end of the first semester of the one-year training course, offers lectures by political stakeholders and serves above all for the evaluation of the training success achieved so far as well as the preparation of the second half of the course.

"Christlich-demokratische Werte in Politik und Gesellschaft - 20 Jahre Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Kroatien"

Die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung veranstaltete zusammen mit der HDZ-Stiftung ZHDZ und der Kroatischen Katholischen Universität am 6. Dezember 2021 in Zagreb ihren 9. Wertekongress zum Thema „Christlich-demokratische Werte in Politik und Gesellschaft“. In Rahmen des Kongresses feierte das KAS Auslandsbüro 20 Jahre Bestehens in Kroatien. In Anwesenheit der Teilnehmer der 2. Generation der KAS/ZHDZ Begabtenakadmie, diskutierte der Vorsitzende der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung und Präsident des Deutschen Bundestages a.D., Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert mit dem stellv. Ministerpräsidenten und Verteidigungsminister der Republik Slowenien, Matej Tonin und dem Rektor der Kroatischen Katholischen Universität, Prof. Dr. Željko Tanjić über die Bedeutung der Christlich-demokratischen Werte in diesen herausfordernden Zeiten der COVID-19-Pandemie.

Sicherheitsherausforderungen für Europa

Die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung veranstaltete in Zusammenarbeit mit dem "Zentrum für Sicherheitskooperation" (RACVIAC) am 1. Dezember 2021 in Zagreb die 9. Regionaltagung zu den aktuellen sicherheitspolitischen Herausforderungen in Südosteuropa. Im Beisein des Staatsekretärs im Ministerium für auswärtige und europäische Angelegenheiten der Republik Kroatien, Frano Matušić, des deutschen Botschafters in der Republik Kroatien, Dr. Robert Klinke und des Leiters der Abteilung für politische und wirtschaftliche Angelegenheiten der USA Botschaft in Kroatien, Henry Alexander Henegar, diskutierten Sicherheitsexperten mit Kollegen aus Europa und der Region über die Dynamik der euroatlantischen Integration, die Drei-Meere-Initiative und sowie über die Entwicklung, Diplomatie und Verteidigung Südosteuropas.

Media Conference

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized together with the Croatian Radio Publisher Association "HURIN" on November 23rd, 2021 in Sveti Martin na Muri a conference on "Media literacy and the Electronic Media Act" within the Days of the Croatian Radio Publisher Association (HURIN). At the conference, media experts discussed the importance of media literacy, the implementation of the new Electronic Media Act, and the management and program of the local Croatian radio stations in times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gastarbeiter Millenials

Book Presentation

Together with the Catholic University of Croatia, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized on November 4th, 2021 in Zagreb a Book Presentation "Gastarbeiter Millennials - Exploring the Past, Present and Future of Migration from SEE to Germany and Austria with Approaches to Classical, Hostorical and Digital Demography" of Prof. Tado Jurić, Ph.D.. Migration and demography experts from various faculties in Zagreb expressed their opinions on the content of the book and discussed the causes and consequences of the emigration of the Croatian population.

Influence of the Media on Radicalization Processes among Young People

Discussion

Together with the Franciscan Institute for the Culture of Peace and the Faculty of Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized on November 3rd, 2021 in Zagreb a conference on "Influence of the media on radicalization processes among young people". The representatives of the Faculty of Croatian Studies of the University of Zagreb, Prof. Balabić, Ph.D. and Prof. Labaš, Ph.D., the representative of the Agency for Electronic Media, Gavran, Ph.D., and head of the KAS office in Zagreb, Mr. Haibach, discussed the tasks of the Agency for Electronic Media, the importance of free speech in the media, the influence of hate speech, fake news and propaganda in radicalization processes in society, the changes in the new law on electronic media, the advantages and disadvantages of Social Media as well media literacy as a solution in the fight against radicalization of young people.

Digitization of the public administration in Croatia

Together with the Croatian County Association (CCA), the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is organizing a hybrid event on October 26th, 2021 in Zagreb on "Digitization of Public Administration in Croatia". In the presence of the State Secretary at the Central State Office for the Development of Digital Society, Mr. Bernard Gršić, and in the context of a video message from the Chairman of the Croatian County Association (CCA), Mr. Danijel Marušić, the results of a survey about the digitization of public administration and the use of e-services by Croatian citizens and entrepreneurs were presented.

The European Union in the World: Past, Present and Future

International Conference

Together with the Croatian Paneuropean Union (HPEU), the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized from October 22nd to 24th, 2021 in Zagreb an international conference on „The European Union in the World: Past, Present and Future”. In the presence of the Croatian Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Dr. Goran Grlić Radman and the Vice-President of the European Commission for Democracy and Demography, Dubravka Šuica, Croatian EPP Members in the European Parliament discussed with representatives of the International Paneuropean Union the importance of Europe as a Power of Peace in the World, current EU politics the challenges of the EU and the Pan-European Union in the future.

Democracy as a Form of Life - Relevance of Judgment

International and interdisciplinary symposium

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized together with the Department of Philosophy of the University of Zadar from October 18th to 21st, 2021 in Zadar a symposium on " Democracy as a Way of Life - Relevance of Judgment". During the 4-day symposium representatives of the European universities discussed the will processes in modern democracies, democracy as a way of life, the importance of identity and pluralism, the characteristics of representative democracy and the danger of right-wing populist movements in times of the corona pandemic.

Christian Democratic Values - Sources, Achievements and Perspectives

Scientific Conference

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Catholic University of Croatia organized a scientific conference on October 15th, 2021 in Zagreb on the subject: “Christian Democratic Values - Sources, Achievements and Perspectives”. Together with the MEP, Karlo Ressler, and the member of the Croatian Parliament and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Davor Ivo Stier, politicians, representatives of the Croatian academic community and religious community discussed, among other things, the characteristics, basic ideas and principles of Christian democracy, the historical experience with the Christian Democracy in Croatia, the challenges of the Christian Democracy in the future, the political actors of the Christian Democracy as well as the relations between the Christian Democracy, the state and the democracy.
