"Europe's Mission in the World Peace Order"

Annual International Conference of the Croatian Paneuropean Union (HPEU)

Together with the Croatian Paneuropean Union (HPEU), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized an international conference "Europe's Mission in the World Peace Order" from October 25th to 27th, 2024, in Split and Sinj. More than 70 representatives of Paneuropean organizations from 12 European countries, as well as representatives of Croatian and European institutions, participated in the conference. Besides representatives of Paneuropean organizations, among the speakers were Gordan Grlić Radman, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and envoy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, and Tomislav Sokol, a Member of the European Parliament. The Vice-President of the European Commission, Dubravka Šuica, and Member of the European Parliament, Davor Ivo Stier, addressed the participants through video messages. The common message from all speakers was The European community of states and peoples, founded on peace, must work together to ensure stability and security and be aware of the challenges that lie ahead.

18th Conference of Croatian Security Managers

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized together with the Croatian Association of Security Managers (HUMS) the 18th Conference of Croatian Security Managers from October 16th to 18th, 2024 in Opatija. The conference featured over 260 professionals from the worlds of business, communications, media, and the IT industry, with more than 50 experts giving lectures and participating in workshops and panel discussions. The focus of the conference was on cybersecurity and information security topics due to the increasing threats of cyberattacks, as well as the challenges faced by corporate security managers in business environments and companies.

"Croatian Paneuropean Union – 33 Years of Work"

ZAGREB - With the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Croatian Paneuropean Union presented the memorial "Croatian Paneuropean Union – 33 Years of Work" on October 10th, 2024. The memorial was presented by the president of the Croatian Paneuropean Union, Prof. Pavo Barišić, PhD, and the honorary president, Academician Mislav Ježić. The special guest was the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, who also delivered a speech. Prof. Barišić, PhD, explained the importance of remembrance and memories, especially of the individuals and ideas that have contributed to the well-being of society in the spirit of European and Christian values. He added that such valuable testimonies help to better understand the past, contribute to understanding the present, and provide guidance for facing the future. Academician Ježić introduced the key figures and historical moments leading to the establishment of the Croatian Paneuropean Union and explained how the memorial summarizes all efforts, events, the breadth of work, and the importance of the activities of the Croatian Paneuropean Union. Prime Minister Plenković, who is also a member of the Presidency of the Croatian Paneuropean Union, spoke about the continuous efforts of the Paneuropean Union in achieving the idea of a united Europe based on Christian values. He emphasized that the Croatian Paneuropean Union has made a significant contribution to the processes of international recognition of the Republic of Croatia.

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized together with the business magazine “Suvremena trgovina” the MAGROS conference "Back to the Future" from October 9th, 2024, in Zagreb. During the event, economic experts and representatives of Croatian companies discussed artificial intelligence in retail management, the hybrid future of retail, digital and new conceptual solutions in trade, new trends, the advantages and disadvantages of Croatia's future OECD membership, the labor shortage and necessary training, as well as consumer protection.

Die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung veranstaltete vom 9. bis zum 13. September 2024 in Dubrovnik gemeinsam mit der Universität Dubrovnik ein Seminar über die Beziehung zwischen Globalisierung und Demokratie. Die Diskussion basierte auf der Grundlage der politischen und sozialen Theorie von Wolfgang Streeck. Die zentrale Frage lautete: Kann eine globale Regierung gebildet werden oder ist die Demokratie historisch und institutionell notwendigerweise an Nationalstaaten gebunden? Zu diesem Thema diskutierten Wissenschaftler aus Slowenien, Kroatien, Bosnien und Herzegowina, Serbien, Deutschland sowie Studenten, die aus Slowenien und Kroatien eingeladen wurden. Die Ergebnisse des Seminars werden auch thematisch in universitären Lehrveranstaltungen und öffentlichen Vorträgen der Dozenten behandelt.
