"Slovenia in the EU - Europe at the Crossroads"

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organised in cooperation with the "Assembly for Republic" on May 7th, 2019 in Ljubljana a conference on "Europe at the Crossroads". In the presence of the former President of the European Parliament, the former President of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftungand the current Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Commissioner for European Affairs Prof. Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering, the Chairman of the SDS and former Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Janez Jansa discussed with the Chairman of the SLS Marjan Podobnik about the upcoming European elections and the future of Slovenia in the EU.

"Political Academy" PLUS

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung organised together with the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ) from April 25th to 28th, 2019 in Dubrovnik another seminar of the series "Political Academy PLUS". With the participation of the Croatian Minister of the Interior Dr. Davor Božinović and the Member of the Croatian Parliament Irena Petrijevčanin Vuksanović the participants discussed with selected representatives of various Croatian universities the importance of political communication, democratisation processes in post-communist societies, conflicts in the Middle East and the challenges of international security and cooperation.

Croatia ahead of the European elections II

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organised together with the Croatian Paneuropean-Union (HPEU) on April 11th, 2019 in Osijek a second round table discussion on "Croatia ahead of the European elections". During the event representatives of theHPEU discussed with representatives of the University of Osijek and the independent candidate for the European Parliament, MEP Marijana Petir, the upcoming European elections, the agricultural policy of the EU and EU Council Presidency of Croatia in 2020.

"Smart solutions" for sustainable urban development

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organised in cooperation with the business magazine "Lider" on April 9th, 2019 in Zagreb conference on "Smart Solutions for Sustainable Urban Development". In the presence of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Administration of the Republic of Croatia, Josipa Rimac and the Director of AHK-Croatia, Sven Thorsten Potthoff, numerous Croatian and foreign city and business representatives and administrative experts discussed new trends in sustainable urban development, solutions for more efficient city administration and innovations in urban centers.

Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić for political talks in Strasbourg

During the last plenary session of the Council of Europe, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Marija Pejčinović Burić, visited Strasbourg on April 8th, 2019 and met there among others with the Deputy Chairman of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag, Dr. Johann David Wadephul and Holger Haibach, the Head of the Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung for Croatia and Slovenia, to exchange views on their candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the Council of Europe.

Croatia as the youngest EU member

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organised together with the Institute of Social Sciences "Ivo Pilar" and the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO) on April 3rd, 2019 in Zagreb a conference on "Croatia as the youngest EU member". With participation of the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Croatian Parliament, Dr. Miro Kovač, the advisor to the State President for relations with the Croatian Parliament and the government, Mirjana Hrga and head of the Berlin office of the European Council on Foreign relations (ECFR), Almut Möller, academics and representatives of the diplomatic corps debated the current and future political alliances within the EU as well as the EU Council Presidency of Croatia.

During the event representatives of the HPEU discussed with representatives of the University of Split current trends and future challenges of Europe and the EU.

"Women in Politics" of the ZHDZ

4th Generation, 2nd Seminar

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized together with the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ) from March 29th to 31st, 2019 another event of the series: "Women in politics" for young female politicians of the HDZ. As part of the 3-day event, the participants of the weekend seminar discussed with distinguished professors of Croatian universities the importance of political communication, the public appearance of female politicians in the media and the instruments of successful public relations.

Investment and Local Development

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized together with the business magazine "Lider" from March 29th to 30th, in Medulin a conference on "Investment and Local Development". In the presence of the assistant minister in the Ministry of Economy, Zvonimir Novak, the envoy of the state president for economy, Marko Jurčić and State Secretary in the Ministry of EU Funds and Regional Development, Spomenka Đurić, economic experts and Croatian business representatives discussed the importance of EU funds and investment and the role of local self-government in the country's economic development.

Democracy Promotion in Slovenia

The Dr. Joze Pucnik Institute (IJP) organised in cooperation with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung on March 22nd, 2019 in Slovenska Bistrica a symposium within which the chairman of the SDS and former Slovenian Prime Minister, Janez Jansa, and the founder of the IJP Institute, Gorazd Pucnik, discussed with representatives of the SDS and the civil society the important period of the Slovenian political spring as well as the democratic development in the Republic of Slovenia after its independence.
