The World Power-to-X Summit

The Regional Program for Energy Security and Climate Change in the Middle East and North Africa participated in the World Power to X Summit in Marrakech as an organizing partner. This summit was a collaboration between the Institute of Solar and New Energy Research and the Mohammed 6 Polytechnic University (UM6P) to create a regional platform dedicated to green hydrogen and the economic opportunities it offers as part of the "Power-To-X" process. 

This platform also served as a basis for high-level discussions and partnerships between different institutions working in the clean energy sector, as recent applications of green hydrogen open up a new era of opportunities that must be adapted to. Therefore, the Power-To-X forum was a must-attend event for global policy makers, business leaders, research experts and innovators to discuss PtX in depth during various high-level panels and sessions.

Mr. Yassine Zegzouti, Fellow Research at KAS-REMENA, moderated a panel on the decarbonization of mobility in the MENA region and the impact that the use of hydrogen can have as an accelerating factor, as the sector is one of the largest CO2 emitters. He also highlighted the effort this requires in terms of investment in a new generation of energy infrastructure that can help achieve carbon neutrality but also generate new jobs.
