A Christian-oriented party? Sure, why not?! The majority of Muslims in Germany could vote for a Christian-oriented party.

Question: Please tell me how strongly you personally agree with the following statement: As a Muslim, I can imagine voting for a Christian-oriented party. Figures in per cent. Missing values to 100 per cent: I cannot judge/no answer. Survey 1055 conducted on behalf of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, including 384 Muslim respondents.

Can people of Muslim belief vote for a party that emphasises Christian values? The answer is quite clear: yes. 80 per cent of the Muslims in Germany tend to agree or agree completely with the statement: ‘As a Muslim, I can imagine voting for a Christian-oriented party.’ Only 12 per cent tend to disagree or disagree completely.

This is good news for the CDU and CSU, which prominently feature the letter ‘C’ in their names. The Christian character of the Union parties does not prevent the vast majority of Muslims from voting for them. Compared to 2015, the proportion has even risen slightly. At that time, the proportion of those who agreed was 74 per cent.
