Scholarships for Bulgarian students
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is a German political foundation affiliated to the Christian-Democratic movement. At home as well as abroad, our civic education programs aim at promoting freedom and liberty, peace, and justice. We focus on consolidating democracy and the rule of law, the unification of Europe and the strengthening of transatlantic relations, as well as on development cooperation. In line with these principles our Foundation awards scholarships to Bulgarian students who study at a university in Bulgaria.
Applicants should:
- be able to provide evidence of outstanding academic achievements
- bring broad general education and distinct interest in political issues
- have a positive attitude towards democracy and human rights
- have been actively engaged in voluntary work for the benefit of the Bulgarian society
- be open to develop their personal points of view and practice tolerance towards those with different beliefs
- be highly motivated and able to convince us with their own plans and potential
- be willing to attend meetings and seminars and participate actively in the programme
- be willing to actively participate in the work of our Alumni club after graduation
- have a very good command of the English language, German is an asset.
Benefits of our scholarship programme:
- a monthly scholarship of 250 EUR (12 times a year)
- ideational support by mentoring and being part of an active and living network.
Please attach the following documents to your application:
- a meaningful CV in tabular form including details about your previous voluntary work or social commitment
- a motivation letter
- copies of your studies performance records and/or examination certificates
- proof of language skills.
You can attach:
- an informal academic letter of recommendation: This opinion should provide information about your academic qualifications and potential; it should not be older than two months. The author has to be a university professor or lecturer.
- an informal letter of recommendation concerning the applicant’s personality: This opinion should focus on your personality and interests as well as on your understanding of values and your social commitment. The author cannot be the same as the one providing the academic letter of recommendation.
All documents should be provided in English or German.
