Opportunities for Russia – Baltics relations in the EU Neighborhood region

The Latvian Transatlantic Organization and Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany with support of Foreign Ministry, Defense Ministry and World Federation of Free Latvians organized the annual conference „Opportunities for Russia – Baltics relations in the EU Neighborhood region”. High ranking experts from several European countries and from Russia discussed about the issue under several aspects. The main conclusion one can come to witnessing the conference seems to be a relative consensus that there will be no fundamental change in the Baltic-Russian relations in the nearest future. But as the conference showed, the hope exists that on an interstate level step by step progress is possible if the persons in charge think and act pragmatically.
