Alexander Brakel did his PhD in the University of Mainz. His research on the region of Baranowicze was one of the first indepth analysises of both Soviet and German occupation of the area, where both Red Army and Wehrmacht devastated the human landscape, the Holocaust took place and further displacement changed places like Baranowicze totally. Alexander Brakel managed to link an analysis of occupation strategies, the interethnic relations and the violence carried out in the nexus between German forces and Soviet partisans and the local population.
Event will be held in Center for German Studies (EHU) at Tauro st. 12, 2nd floor, room 207. The presentation will be in Russian, the discussion in English, Belarusian and Russian.
