Presidential Candidates' Discussion

Public Engagement

Voter apathy, and poor voter turnout can be attributed to a myriad of complex and inter-related issues, of which some are the lack of awareness, insufficient information on candidates and their related manifestos and party programmes. Hence, KAS are organising a Presidential Candidates' Discussion slated for Thursday 23 May 2024 at the Hilton Hotel at 17:00, to allow the public to engage and hear from Presidential candidates hopefuls. It is a platform to share presidential candidates' intentions and stance on key policy issues, as a way to contribute to the general vigour and robustness of democratic and political discourse.

Green Hydrogen Industry Incubation Forum

Deep Dive Into Technical Aspects of Green Hydrogen Construction Opportunities

A one-day comprehensive information sharing Forum hosted in Windhoek by CIF in partnership with REIAoN and in cooperation with KAS. Sponsored by key industry players, Hyphen Green Hydrogen Pty Ltd will provide technical insights and place the spotlight on the opportunities available for Namibian based businesses as part of the mega project. The main aim of the forum is to ensure enhanced engagement by industry body participants, whilst the objective is to gage at least 100 members of the Construction lndustry Federation (ClF) and Renewable Energy lndustry Association (RElAoN) jointly, as well as selected non-ClF or REIAoN members who represent an active and credible construction or installation business from across Namibia. The Forum is hosted in Windhoek and focuses on the in-depth technical aspects tailored for an audience of Namibia's renewable and construction industry experts and captains of industry interested in understanding potential Green Hydrogen construction opportunities.

MSME Digital Bootcamp Rehoboth

Session 1

KAS in collaboration with the NIPDB, will be implementing and facilitating the second phase of Digital MSME Bootcamps in partnership with the Namibian College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) at their regional based Computer-Based Learning Centres (CBLC) and affiliated teacher resource centres, in the following towns; Rehoboth, Keetmanshoop and Eenhana, with the aim to upskill at least 63 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with basic computer skills and enhance their efficiency, productivity and competitiveness in the market, as well as adoption of technological innovation. The second phase aims to to upscale at least 55% of participating MSMEs from their initial size to the next phase(s) by 2028 and further to strengthen coordination of smart partnerships and assist the NIPDB and NAMCOL in achiev-ing targeted initiatives under their priority sectors.

ECSO Project Community Engagement with civil society organisations and stakeholders

//Karas Region

The KAS and European Union co-funded ECSO project team will be in //Karas region for two community engagement events with civil society organisations and stakeholders. On 23rd April the KAS and WAD team will be hosting a community dialogue on the topic "Development in the Community: Creating income generating activities from Regional Resources". On 24 April an information session with CSOs and stakeholders will take place in an effort to build relationships in the region.

FDN Symposium: The Challenges for Namibian Democracy

Discussion Roundtable in association with the Forum of German-speaking Namibians

The Forum of German-speaking Namibians (FDN) in association with the Swakopmunder Gesprächskreis and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Namibia-Angola Country Office are hosting a one-day symposium on 13 April 2024 with the aim to exchange insights on the challenges that Namibia's Democracy faces and recommendations on the way forward. Together with four guest speakers, the discussion roundtable aims to engage around 70 invited guests.

KAS is joining the Association for Regional Councils (ARC) who are convening in Mariental. The two day retreat scheduled from 09 to 10 April 2024 will discuss and review the Constituency Development Fund Bill (CDFB). More the 50 representatives from regional and local authorities are expected to attend.

ECSO Project Operational and Administrative Management Training

//Kharas Region

The past week 04 - 08 March 2024 the KAS and WAD team who are implementing the ECSO project hosted a training for 13 CSOs from //Karas region on Operational and Administrative Management in Keetmanshoop. The training was able to empower a total of 24 participants in a 5-day workshop aimed at strengthening the internal operational structures of their respective organisations.

The Ombudsman as a bridge for Collaboration

In Zusammenarbeit mit der KAS veranstaltet das Office of the Ombudsman ein dreitägiges Training zum Thema Menschenrechte gerichtet an die staatlichen Bediensteten und politischen lokalen Vertreter der Regionen Zambesi, Kavango Ost und Kavango West. Ziel ist es, die staatsbürgerliche Bildung und Verantwortungsbewusstsein für Menschenrechte zu stärken, um wirksame rechtsstaatliche Institutionen in den Regionen zu schaffen.

KAS-TEP Session 4 Good Governance Training, Parliament Tour and Alumni Networking Session

Session 4

Die Abschlusssitzung des diesjährigen KAS-TEP-Programms wird mit ausgewählten Experten zum Thema "Good Governance", einer Besichtigung des Parlaments durch die 30 im Programm verbliebenen Begünstigten und einer Zertifikatsübergabe für die Teilnehmer des Jahrgangs 2023 sowie einer Networking-Sitzung und einem Treffen der KAS-TEP-Alumni anlässlich des fünfjährigen Bestehens des KAS-TEP-Programms stattfinden. Ausgewählte Alumni aus ganz Namibia werden ihre Erfahrungen vorstellen und Einblicke in ihre Erfolge und Höhepunkte in ihrer Entwicklung seit der Teilnahme am Programm präsentieren. Seit Einführung des KAS-TEP-Programms wurden es bereits über 70 Alumni in den Bereichen emotionale Intelligenz, Führungsqualitäten, strategische Planung, Projektmanagement, Einbeziehung von Interessengruppen, Verfassen von Vorschlägen, Kommunikationsfähigkeiten, Lobbyarbeit und Interessenvertretung, sowie den Umgang mit dem Parlament, lokalen und regionalen Behörden, Betreuern, effektiver und nachhaltiger Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und letztendlich Fähigkeiten zur Mobilisierung von Ressourcen in der Gemeinde geprägt. Die Begünstigten schliesen ausgewählte jugendliche Vertreter der Zivilgesellschaft ein und auch angeschlossene Personen aus Interessengruppen und Institutionen die eng mit der namibischen Zivillgesellschaft verbunden sind. Ziel ist es, die namibische Zivilgesellschaft in die Lage zu versetzen, Entscheidungsträgern bei der Bestrebung der nationalen Entwicklungsziele zu unterstützen.

Einführung des Logos des Kinderanwalts, Förderung der Kampagne "My Rights My Superpower"

Office of the Ombudsman

Ziel dieser Veranstaltung ist es, den Gewinner im Rahmen eines nationalen Wettbewerbs zum Entwurf eines neuen Children's Advocate Logos, an dem mehrere Schulen aus ganz Namibia teilgenommen haben, zu enthüllen. Die Veranstaltung dient der Vorstellung des Logos und der Förderung der Kinderrechte Kampagne "My Rights My Superpower". Anschließend wurden verschiedene Interessengruppen des Ombudsmanns eingeladen zum Zweck der Vernetzeung und zukünftige Kooperationen zu fördern mit dem Ziel Initiativen im Bereich der Kinderrechte im ganzen Land zu stärken.

In einem Interview mit NBC Good Morning Namibia äußern sich Projektmanagerin Stefanie Braun und Absai Kashululu, Vertreter des Implementierungspartners WAD, zur Veröffentlichung der von der Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung in Auftrag gegebenen Studie zum aktuellen Wissensstand über Landnutzungs- und Landbesitzrechte der Frauen in den zentralen, nördlichen Regionen Namibias.

The special initiative "One World - No Hunger: Strengthening Women's Land Use and Land Ownership Rights in Sub-Saharan Africa" by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) aims to strengthen the fair and secure access to resources and land as well as land use rights for women in Namibia.

Die Sonderinitiative der Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) "Eine Welt ohne Hunger - Stärkung von Landbesitz- und Landnutzungsrechten von Frauen in Sub-Sahara Afrika" zielt vor allem darauf ab, den fairen und sicheren Zugang zu Rohstoffen und Land zu ermöglichen sowie Landnutzungsrechte für Frauen in Namibia zu stärken.

Community Workshop for Traditional Authorities in Onesi, Omusati Region

Another workshop was held in Onesi, Omusati region, through the special initiative “One World - No Hunger: Strengthening Womens’ Land Ownership and Land Use Rights in Sub-Saharan Africa” from the 24th of July to the 27th of July. Its participants consisted of 65 representatives of the Uukolonkadhi traditional authority.

In Onesi, in der Omusati Region, fand vom 24.07.2017 bis zum 27.07.2017 ein weiterer Workshop der Sonderinitiative „Eine Welt ohne Hunger – Stärkung der Landbesitz- und Landnutzungsrechte von Frauen in Subsahara Afrika“ statt, an dem insgesamt 65 Vertreter und Vertreterinnen der traditionellen Autorität der Uukolonkadhi teilnahmen.

The impact of Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency on the National Economy of Namibia

On the 11th of July 2017, KAS Namibia-Angola implemented an event on the topic of “The impact of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency on the National Economy of Namibia” at the Bank of Namibia (BoN) in Windhoek. The event, which was moderated by Mr. Harald Schütt (Director Amusha Consultancy Services) and conducted by Namibian economic expert Mr. Rowland Brown (Cirrus Investment), targeted mainly decision makers from politics as well as from parastatal and the private sector.

Another event started under the special initiative “One World – No Hunger: Strengthening Women’s Land Use and Land Ownership Rights in Sub-Saharan Africa” aiming to enlighten Traditional Authorities and Communal Land Board members about the Communal Land Reform Act and to emphasize their duties in this context. The four-day community workshop that – this time – especially targeted Traditional Authorities took place from 19. – 22.06.2017 in the Regional Council Hall of Outapi in Omusati Region.
