Details

The Federal Road Safety Corps is an integral part of Nigeria’s security architecture, although the issue of overlapping mandates with other security agencies persists. With the new NRSS II, which comes into effect immediately after NRSS I, the FRSC will intensify efforts to protect lives of citizens especially on the road through this new policy with the support from KAS and the Ministry of Budget and National Planning – the ministry coordinating all government policies.

Thematic areas to be covered at this capacity building workshop include Overview of NRSS II: 2021 – 2030; Role of Commissioners of Transport on Implementation of NRSS II; Establishment and Operability of State Road Safety Advisory Councils (SaRSAC) in the Implementation of the NRSS II; UN Conventions on Road Safety and the Implication of Security in achieving NRSS II Goals; Road Safety Initiative and Community Policing in Nigeria by 2030: Strategies and Recommendations for Improvement; Monitoring and Evaluation Template of the NRSS II; Overlapping Mandates among Security Agencies: NRSS II as a Framework for Improving Inter-Agency Collaboration; and syndicate sessions, among others.

The workshop is part of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s support towards sustaining democracy, governance and security sector reform in Nigeria.
