Political Participation of the Youth in the Digital Age

The ubiquity of the Internet and social media accorded young people a space to join political discussions. It gave them the feeling of being heard and having a voice, a sense of agency, and a wide range of networks. Social media platforms also reduced the cost of coordinating with individuals and groups.

We have observed how the Internet and social media have been utilized in shaping discourses and mobilizing people to serve one's interests. As the attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs of young people toward democracy and participation bank on their experiences, it is crucial to understand how realities in the digital age shape their political participation.

As part of the Adenauer Young Leaders Program, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Philippines will hold a learning exchange on the "Political Participation of the Youth in the Digital Age" on Saturday, 1 April, 9:00 AM, at the Baguio City Multipurpose Hall. Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong will also grace the event and share his insights on governance and leadership to the fellows. The event is by invitation only.
