Senate President Franklin Drilon lauded the efforts of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for publishing a timely and relevant book on population and development in the Philippines. During the launching of the book at the Philippine Senate, he stressed that policymakers will definitely benefit from this book, which illustrates the nexus between population and development in the country. The book will help enlighten the current debate on population policy in the country.
The launching at the Senate on September 14, 2004 was the third time the book was presented to target audiences. Senate Chairman of the Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development Senator Rodolfo Biazon is confident and optimistic that a sound and effective population policy shall be finally be passed in this 13th Congress. While Former Senator Leticia Ramos Shahani urged the participants of the launch to support and rally behind the senators for a more comprehensive, mutually acceptable and effective population policy in the country.
The book publication was a joint project of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, AIM Policy Center and the Philippine Center for Population and Development. The three book launchings held in Makati, House of Representatives and Senate were jointly organized by these three organizations and the Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development.
