European Strategic Autonomy

Dear friends of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Baltic States,

We are glad to announce our contribution to the discussion of European Strategic Autonomy. Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Baltic States and the Eastern Europe Studies Centre invite you to the discussion: European Strategic Autonomy - More than a Catchphrase. The discussion will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 11:00 Helsinki time.

We would like to contribute to the discussion and try to clarify what exactly is meant with this concept and whether it can help Europe to take more responsibility for itself in an increasingly harsh world. There is not yet a common view on what strategic autonomy means in practice. The ambiguity allows governments across Europe to project quiet different hopes and fears into the term.

What is exactly meant with the concept of European Strategic Autonomy? Will it help Europe to take more responsibility for itself? Save the date - May 5, 2021 at 11:00 Helsinki time and join our discussion to get answers to these questions.
