Latin America has a fairly clean electricity matrix (but it can be better) based on hydroelectricity and we know that our contribution to GHG emissions is not very significant on a global scale (around 8%) with the component of land use change and the agricultural sector as the main emitters; However, these statistics should not mean that the energy transition is not our responsibility because, as this year's slogan "No energy transition, no sustainable development" points out, Latin America's challenge in these aspects, while awaiting the "day after oil", is the electrification of its productive processes and, mainly, of transportation.

On this internal technological conversion we can also put in the world scorn our role as a source of solutions for the world as exporters of green H2, energy vector that is growing in interest and concrete production plans, but which is necessary to have more integration at the regional level as minerals such as lithium and rare earths, although for this mining must have very well established agreements and policies for their exploitation, so that the impact on the environment and surrounding communities is minimal and also enjoy these benefits.

The energy transition is a road to be traveled rather than a goal to be reached and this road is not a single path but has many different ways to travel this route. The democratization of energy is a pending task, to ensure that energy reaches all corners of our immense and rugged geography in a timely and sufficient manner, opening new strategies and electrification projects that are adapted to the geographical and social conditions of all the diversity of our peoples.

The creation and incentive of the so-called "Smart cities" is also another path of this energy transition, smart cities where the "Data Economy" helps to measure and process this information in such a way that precise questions and appropriate answers are obtained to propose projects that generate greater impact and can be subject to national or international funding, projects that can go from the good management of solid waste, settle the concepts of circularity in territory, energy efficiency, green infrastructure, etc.. Putting the person at the center of the analysis so that all these efforts are appropriated by citizens to become viable in their implementation and sustainable over time.

In short: Humanize energy because energy can change people's lives but its misuse can change, for the worse, the planet's climate.
