Details
Indonesia is one of the countries most vulnerable to disasters due to its geographical conditions, environmental challenges, and the impacts of climate change. Although the country has established comprehensive environmental and disaster management policies, their implementation at the local level continues to face challenges, including political and economic pressures as well as fiscal constraints. As a result, communities most affected by environmental degradation and disasters often have limited influence in decision-making processes that shape their future and safety.
To promote more inclusive, sustainable, and equitable policies, The Habibie Center, in collaboration with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Indonesia, is organizing a Democracy Dialogue titled “Strengthening Democracy for Sustainability in Environmental and Disaster Policy.” This dialogue serves as a platform for multi-stakeholder exchange, aimed at strengthening participatory and responsive environmental and disaster governance.
