Unravelling the Institutional Design of Regional Elections for Substantive Local Democracy
The fourth “Democracy Dialogue” of the year, organised by The Habibie Center with the support of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Indonesia, focused on the institutional design of regional elections and its importance for strong local democracy. Representatives from state institutions, academia and civil society discussed direct and indirect election models, as well as political representation, accountability and mechanisms for controlling political power.
