Democracy as a Form of Life - Relevance of Judgment

International and interdisciplinary symposium

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized together with the Department of Philosophy of the University of Zadar from October 18th to 21st, 2021 in Zadar a symposium on " Democracy as a Way of Life - Relevance of Judgment". During the 4-day symposium representatives of the European universities discussed the will processes in modern democracies, democracy as a way of life, the importance of identity and pluralism, the characteristics of representative democracy and the danger of right-wing populist movements in times of the corona pandemic.

Christian Democratic Values - Sources, Achievements and Perspectives

Scientific Conference

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Catholic University of Croatia organized a scientific conference on October 15th, 2021 in Zagreb on the subject: “Christian Democratic Values - Sources, Achievements and Perspectives”. Together with the MEP, Karlo Ressler, and the member of the Croatian Parliament and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Davor Ivo Stier, politicians, representatives of the Croatian academic community and religious community discussed, among other things, the characteristics, basic ideas and principles of Christian democracy, the historical experience with the Christian Democracy in Croatia, the challenges of the Christian Democracy in the future, the political actors of the Christian Democracy as well as the relations between the Christian Democracy, the state and the democracy.

To success by changing business models

MAGROS 2021

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized together with the business magazine "Suvremena trgovina" on October 6th, 2021 the MAGROS conference on "To success by changing business models ". With the participation of the State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Croatia, Nataša Mikuš Žigman, and the Head of the office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Poland, David Gregosz, the Croatian company representatives discussed the perspectives for wholesalers and retailers in the time of the Corona crisis, the challenges of accelerated digitization in retail, the new relationships between consumers and retailers as well as new distribution platforms.

Media Conference

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized in cooperation with the University of Dubrovnik in Dubrovnik from October 1st to 2nd, 2021 a conference on "Media Framing and New Narratives". During the two-day conference, communication experts from countries of Southeastern Europe discussed with representatives of Croatian universities, the media framing of crisis situations, the importance of political communication and the new narratives.

B2B meetings of Croatian women entrepreneurs

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized together with the Women's Entrepreneurship Centre on September 28th, 2021, in Zagreb another B2B meeting of Croatian women entrepreneurs on "New Normal in Entrepreneurship". During the event, numerous Croatian women entrepreneurs discussed with the director of the Women's Entrepreneurship Centre, Zrinka Peharec, the challenges of entrepreneurship in times of the COVID-19 pandemic, the strengthening of female entrepreneurship in Croatia as well as their improved networking.

15th Croatian Security Days

15th Conference of Croatian Security Managers - HUMS 2021

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized together with the Croatian Association of Security Managers (HUMS) from September 22nd to 23rd, 2021 in Opatija a conference on issues of corporate security and new models of security management under the name "15th Croatian Security Days". The Minister of the Interior of Croatia, Davor Božinović, PhD, the Dean of the University of VERN, Prof. Vlatko Cvrtila, PhD, the director of the Croatian Association of Security Managers, Alen Ostojić, and the security expert, Prof. Robert Kopal, PhD, took part on the conference.

The importance of Central Europe for the EU

The KAS office for Croatia and Slovenia and the KAS Office Multilateral Dialogue in Vienna organized the first on "The Importance of Central Europe for the EU" on the island of Krk in the town of Vrbnik from September 19th to 21st, 2021. Participants from Croatia, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia discussed the best examples and failures of cross-border cooperation, the migration policy of the EU member states and the related impulses of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency as well as EU security policy (regional cooperation, EU initiatives and transatlantic cooperation).

Aktuelle und zukünftige Entwicklungstrends der Republik Kroatien

Die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung veranstaltet zusammen mit der HDZ-Stiftung (ZHDZ) und der HDZ-Jugendorganisation eine Diskussionsrunde zum Thema "Aktuelle und zukünftige Entwicklungstrends der Republik Kroatien. Current and future development trends of the Republic of Croatia

Together with the Croatian Statehood Foundation (ZHDZ) and the Youth of the Croatian Democratic Union (MHDZ), the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized a discussion on September 11th, 2021 in Zagreb on “Current and future development trends of the Republic of Croatia”. In two panel discussions and with the participation of the Croatian Minister of Labor, Josip Alardoviæ, the Croatian Minister of Education, Prof. Dr. Radovan Fuchs, and Chairman of the European Foundation for Education and former Mayor of the City of Stuttgart, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schuster, the trends in the Croatian labor market and education system, the climate and energy goals and the most important elements of the digital transformation were discussed with Croatian experts and company representatives.

"Grand Strategy, Foresight and Hybrid Threats in 21st Century – Making Society and Critical Infrastructure Resilient"

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized in cooperation with the Hybride Warfare Research Institute from September 3rd to 4th, 2021 in Zagreb and under strict hygiene standards a conference about the hybrid security challenges and risks in 21st century. With the participation of Elmar Brok, former member of the European Parliament and chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, NATO representatives, other numerous Croatian politicians, including the state secretary of the Croatian Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, defense and security experts from various universities of Southeast Europe, the debate was about strategic foresight's and hybrid threats, strengthening democracy, protecting freedom and society, with particular reference to the resistance of critical infrastructure.
