The programme focused on key topics in political education, communication, and political practice. Representatives of Croatian universities addressed various challenges of political life, including stress management and psychosocial risks associated with political work. Communication experts delivered a series of modules providing practical insights into political communication, self-confident and persuasive communication, media manipulation, and the importance of professional public relations.
Additional sessions explored the role of emotional intelligence in politics, the dynamics of post-election coalition-building in Slovenia, presented by Marko Gruden, Director of the Dr. Janez Evangelist Krek Institute (IJEK), as well as current economic perspectives in the context of the war in Ukraine.
Particular emphasis was placed on intensive training modules covering political rhetoric, public speaking, and media relations. Participants had the opportunity to further develop their skills through speech training, media appearance simulations, and the preparation and analysis of political presentations.
One of the highlights of the Summer School was an extensive simulation exercise in which participants navigated a variety of political scenarios, ranging from candidate debates and final presentations to the evaluation and analysis of outcomes. The objective was to apply theoretical knowledge in realistic settings while strengthening participants’ communication and strategic competencies.
The programme concluded with the presentation and discussion of the 34th edition of Akademičar, the publication produced by the participants themselves. Once again, the Summer School made a significant contribution to political education and to the development of future political leaders and decision-makers.
