Federal Director of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party in Singapore

Federal Director of the CDU, Dr. Klaus Schüler, Deputy Secretary General of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Dr. Gerhard Wahlers, and Deputy Head of the Department European and International Cooperation of KAS, Frank Priess, have been in Singapore for talks with media representatives. They discussed current political challenges in Europe and Asia – like the current situation of refugees that affects both continents or questions according foreign and security policy.

On Sep 13 2016, Federal Director of the CDU, Dr. Klaus Schüler, Deputy Secretary General of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Dr. Gerhard Wahlers, and Deputy Head of the Department European and International Cooperation of KAS, Frank Priess, have been in Singapore for talks with media representatives. They used their stopover in the city state to discuss current political challenges in Europe and Asia – like the current situation of refugees that affects both continents or questions according foreign and security policy – with Asian journalists and German correspondents. Moreover, Dr. Schüler and Dr. Wahlers reported about the political talks they had in Australia and New Zealand as well as the geostrategic significance of these countries within the South-Pacific region.

As part of his commitment in the Asian region, Dr. Schüler has already visited various Asian countries and talked to high-ranking politicians that participated at the KAS E-lection Bridge Asia-Pacific. The chairman of the International Democratic Union’s (IDU) campaign manager committee is highly requested as a campaign expert not just in Asia but also in Europe, Africa and the USA. In August, he will also support the next E-lection Bridge Asia-Pacific in Taiwan as a keynote-speaker.
