By sharing experiences and views, the dialogue shall result in recommendations in order to prepare the dialogue within the OSCE to set impulses to prevent interstate conflicts related to a changing global climate.

Panel 1: Important aspects of climate change

Climate change has always been an issue of global relevance. However, over the past years, it became apparent that more knowledge and expertise are needed to address the topic in a holistic approach. Regionally different parameters have to be considered in defining which mitigating measures are most suitable.

This panel will provide insights into specific aspects of climate change and forecasting methods that help defining tailored action.

Panel 2: Opportunities for increased international cooperation

There is no doubt that climate change can only be addressed in a common effort of governments, civil societies, and private industry. Efficient cooperation requires making best use of each actor’s capabilities, to carefully assess the available resources, and to closely work together across national and regional borders. Not least, in international security, open and transparent discussions about intentions and ambitions are necessary to achieve tangible results.

This panel will provide good examples of how cooperation across borders can be applied.
