Interagency Collaboration among Security Agencies in the North-East Zone

Support to the SSR in Nigeria

KAS is cooperating with Nigeria’s House of Representatives’ Committee on Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to organize a four-day training workshop for middle-level officers of security agencies in the North-East geopolitical zone on promoting interagency collaboration and operational effectiveness. The workshop which will hold in Bauchi, Bauchi State is for officers drawn mainly from operations, public relations, peace and conflict resolution departments from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police, Department of State Services, the NSCDC among others from Bauchi, Gombe and Yobe States.

The workshop aims at enhancing the capacity of officers of Nigeria’s security agencies to imbibe the principles and practice of interagency collaboration, conflict prevention and resolution, and also promote adherence to best practices in the discharge of their duties. Subject areas at the workshop will include strategies for interagency cooperation and conflict resolution, intelligence management process, joint interagency planning, leadership in complex military situations, law enforcement and internal security, emotional intelligence, rule of law, ethics and professionalism, responsibility to protect among others. The workshop which will be facilitated by seasoned experts in security sector reform, will equally foster trust, confidence building, information sharing, improved investigation and surveillance among personnel of security agencies through active learning, presentations, case studies, role plays, audio-visual aids, and scenario analysis. The seminar is part of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s support to the Security Sector Reform in Nigeria. This program is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
