Details

The roundtable was based on an pilot survey which tried to evaluate the knowledge, civic skills and dispositions of parents in promoting civic education in the country, done in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mrs. Francesca Edeghere presented the survey and looked at the issue of parent roles from different perspectives. The survey looked at how parents use the family setting to promote civic education, and also found out how parents engage the schools, the media, CSOs, community and government in the promotion of democratic ideals. The findings of the survey will be shared with relevant stakeholders for further implementation in nurturing the parents to imbibe a good civic education culture in their children.

Amongst the participants was Mrs. Pauline Tallen, a former deputy governor of Plateau State, who is also an educationist. Representatives of relevant school authorities including school principals, journalists and students were present at this roundtable, which gave them a lot of good.
