Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is cooperating with Nigeria’s House of Representatives’ Committee on Army to organize a two-day seminar for the leadership and members of the various committees on the security agencies in the House of Representatives. The seminar, which is a follow up to initial seminars organized by KAS for members of these committees, aims at enhancing the capacity of chairmen, deputy chairmen and members of the committees to evaluate the overlapping mandates in the laws of the various security agencies and work out ways of reviewing the laws to eliminate or reduce interagency rivalry and conflicts.

Through this seminar, KAS is strengthening collaboration among the parliamentary committees for effective legislation especially on issues that relate to strengthening security sector reform in Nigeria. It would further set priorities and roadmaps for galvanizing the engagement of other arms of government on the need to promote and embrace cooperation in implementation of laws that promote security sector reform. The seminar is part of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s support to the Security Sector Reform in Nigeria. This program is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
