Details

With the beginning of 2011, new parliaments, governors and the president are elected in Nigeria. KAS and partners are going to utilise 2010 for intensive political education and consultation to prepare these elections.

Nigerian parliamentarians, decision-makers, multipliers and KAS-partners follow and analyze the German Bundestagswahlen at election evening in the German embassy. Host is the German ambassador together with KAS and FES. With this event, it shall be documented, that competing political parties can deal with each other in a civilized fashion.

On September 28th, a roundtable with journalists and KAS partners takes place at the KAS office. The focus will be on how the German Bundestagswahlen can serve as positive example for democratic elections and how this will be communicated to the Nigerian public and especially, to the Nigerian politicians. Afterwards, KAS and partners will plan concrete arrangements for the year 2010: What can Nigeria learn from the Bundestagswahlen? How can we contribute for elections in 2011 that are freer, less manipulated and more peaceful than the previous? Which contents shall be communicated by our KAS radio programmes? How can our town hall meetings be arranged even more efficient? Which contribution can we make for civil society and security personal, to prevent anew riots?

These are some of the “Agenda 2010” topics of KAS in Nigeria.
