Details

Nigeria holds elections for the president and its deputy, the governors and the parliaments. The power struggle for the nomination of candidates has begun. Without counting the local councils, over 1000 mandates will be given. Women are dramatically under-represented. Their specific political needs play neither a role in the election campaigns, nor in the elected governments. The Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation in cooperation with a GTZ project on women is supporting women’s interests in politics. This first joint roundtable in Jos, Plateau State, one of KAS focal states, offers women a forum to articulate their expectations to future political decision-makers.
