As Thomas Birringer, Resident Representative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation in the Palestinian Autonomous Territories underlined at the opening, all the movies portray women who improved their position in the society and thereby actively influenced the society they come from. This is a change that is arising from the respective countries themselves and is therefore nowadays of special importance in the Palestinian territories.

During the festival, 11 movies from in the Palestinian territories, Egypt, Lebanon, Marocco, Tunisia and Algeria will be presented. Apart from Ramallah, there will be movie screenings in East-Jerusalem, Nablus, Gaza, Bethlehem, Jenin, Qalquilia and Hebron. In addition, movies will be presented in schools, universities and refugee camps. In discussions, which will take place after the screenings and in seminars, the contents of the movies will be reviewed and reflected.

In the audience were about 300 people who watched the opening film, the Lebanese movie "Women Beyond Borders" and attended the reception which took part after the screening.

In his opening speech, Yahya Yakhluf, the acting Minister of Culture, underlined the importance of the festival.

George Ibrahim, the Director of Al-Kasaba addressed the audience thanking Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation for their support and the audience for showing high interest.
