The objective of these business educational training courses was to raise awareness within the local women organizations and small family businesses in Taybeh regarding the opportunities directed in the area of tourism.

Therefore the workshops supported by KAS Ramallah focused on subjects like hospitality management, tourism marketing, and food safety, as to enable the participants to manage the tourism sector effectively and to know about marketing strategies for their local products.

The workshops were supervised by Dr. Grace Khoury, former Director of the MBA program from Birzeit University and were attended successfully by 16 participants from several local organizations, such as Taybeh Brewing Company, Taybeh Women’s Landing and Saving, and Taybeh Cooperation for Country Development.

Within the opening ceremony of the fifth annual October festival which took place from Saturday, 3rd to Sunday, 4th of October 2009, the participants received a certificate handed out by Felix Dane, Resident Representative of KAS, and David Canaan Khoury, Mayor of Taybeh, under the attendance of numerous international and local visitors from the political and economical area.

At Taybeh Oktoberfest the participants were given the chance to show the practical results of what they had learned during the training and to offer their local products such as beer, yogurt, honey, olive oil and embroidery to the visitors of the festival, which reached a number of more than 15.000 people in total.
