Palestinian Universities Model United Nations (PUMUN)

First national meeting

Together with our partner The Palestine Institute for Public Diplomacy (PIPD) we kicked off an exciting year that will see the first ever Palestinian University Model United Nations (PUMUN).

Over 120 bright students that were selected during the past months from five Palestinian universities joint us last Friday in Ramallah for the first joint event. During the yearlong event the students will be made familiar with the system of the United Nations and with the tenents of the simuation. One of the goals is to organize in the latter half of the year the first narional PUMUN conference at one of the participating Palestinian universities.

During the first meeting the students were officially welcomed by Najwan Berekdar (PUMUN coordinator), Salim Barahmeh (PIPD) and Marc Frings (KAS) as participants of the simlualtion. During the event they had, among others, the chance to address questions to Nasser al-Qudwa, who gave us a vivid firsthand account of his many years at the United Nations.

We are already now proud of all the students that will join us in the adventure. A special thanks goes to all those students that are supporting the success of this project through their voluntary work.
