In his lecture, Franco spoke about the development of the European Integration. He especially focused on the economical and political issues which the countries in Post-War Europe had to manage. He also discussed the various mechanisms of integration, which the European Union experienced since the Treaty of Rome in the 1950s to the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty in the year 2009. Franco ended the lecture with a discussion about the current and upcoming challenges for the member-states of the European Union that he saw in the crisis in the Eurozone, the overcoming of the democratic deficits and the development of a European Identity.

25 students and guest auditors participated in the lecture.
