Young Democracy Union of Africa (YDUA) Forum 2026

“Waking the Giant: Youth-Led Democracy and Africa’s Tech Revolution”

The Young Democracy Union of Africa (YDUA) convened its 2026 Forum in Monrovia, Liberia from 1 to 5 July 2026, under the theme “Waking the Giant: Youth-Led Democracy and Africa’s Tech Revolution.” Hosted by the Unity Party with the support of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Regional Programme for Political Dialogue in and for Sub-Saharan Africa (KAS PolDiSSA), the Forum brought together young politicians from across the continent alongside policymakers, senior government officials and academics. The YDUA member parties that participated include UNITA from Angola, UCD from Equatorial Guinea, NPP from Ghana, PDCI RDA from Ivory Coast, KANU and DP from Kenya, MCP from Malawi, MDM and RENAMO from Mozambique, PMD from Namibia, PDP from Nigeria, PMDC and NGC from Sierra Leone, ACDP and IFP from South Africa, CHADEMA from Tanzania, FDR from Togo, and FDC and DP from Uganda. The discussions centred on harnessing Africa’s greatest resource, its young democratic leaders navigating politics in an increasingly digital age.

Kinshasa accueille une nouvelle génération de leaders politiques africains

16 jeunes politiciens venus de 8 pays africains se sont retrouvés du 10 au 16 mai àkinshasa pour la quatrième édition de la Konrad Adenauer School for Young Politicians (KASYP).

Le KASYP est mis en œuvre par la Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, conduit par le Réseau européen des fondations politiques (ENoP) et soutenu par l'Union européenne. Le programme KASYP vise à motiver et à qualifier les jeunes professionnels politiques jusqu'à l'âge de 35 ans pour leur engagement politique ultérieur.

Event Report: 15th E-lection Bridge Africa: Enhancing Political Party Organization and Campaign Strategy

E-lection Bridge Africa is the flagship initiative of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) dedicated to strengthening representative democracy through promoting effective electoral campaign strategies, political communication skills, electoral innovation, and enhancing political party electoral capacity in Africa. From the 2nd to the 4th of March 2026, KAS PolDiSSA organized and hosted the 15th edition of the E-lection Bridge Africa Conference at the Windhoek Country Club in Namibia. This marked the fifth time the initiative was organized under the PolDiSSA Programme. The conference was focused on English-speaking countries and was attended by senior campaign management representatives of political parties and experts from 14 countries including Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, USA, Zimbabwe, and Germany.

The Democracy Union of Africa (DUA) in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung’s (KAS) Regional Programme for Political Dialogue in Sub-Saharan Africa (PolDiSSA) held its annual forum in Nairobi, Kenya from the 26th to the 29th of October 2025. This year’s Forum was hosted by Kenyan DUA member parties the Kenya African National Union (KANU) and the Democratic Party (DP) under the theme “Navigating Africa's Strategic Position in a Multipolar World: Towards Equitable and Mutually Beneficial Partnerships.”

Welcoming a New Cohort of KAS-SAIIA Scholars.

Investing in the Next Generation of African Leaders!

The KAS-SAIIA Scholar’s Welcome event is co-organised by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s Regional Programme – Political Dialogue for Sub-Saharan Africa (PolDiSSA) and the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA). Since 1999 KAS has funded an internship pro-gramme, run by SAIIA, providing successful candidates with the opportunity to enroll for a master’s degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Economics, Law or Journalism and other related subjects within the humanities and social sciences discipline, while simultaneously working at the SAIIA office in Cape Town or Johannesburg. The welcome event, hosted at the KAS Office in Johannesburg brings together the newly se-lected cohort of SAIIA scholars, staff from KAS and SAIIA, notable members of the alumni network and experts to discuss contemporary issues in development, politics and internation-al relations. Former scholars also reflect on their career journeys, serving to inspire the new scholars. For 2025, the keynote address was delivered by Dr. Phakamisa Siyothula, a KAS-SAIIA alumni from the class of 2005 who now serves as a Director in the National Office for the Coordination of Peace Missions (NOCPM) at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO).
