Political parties play a central role in democratic societies because they represent the interests of society and they allow the citizens to exert influence on the political decision-making process. The present publication of Konrad Adenauer Foundation is thought to offer an introduction to organisational structures and functions of political parties as well as to depict their place within a democratic society.
