Despite great dissatisfaction with politics, politicians and the economic situation, a large majority of Germans are satisfied or even very satisfied with their lives. 24 per cent are very satisfied with their lives and a further 47 per cent are satisfied. Only 5 per cent are dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with their lives.
At 72 per cent, West Germans are slightly more satisfied with their lives than East Germans, just under two thirds of whom are (very) satisfied. There are also certain differences in life satisfaction among party supporters. Union voters are the most satisfied (84 per cent), followed by voters of the Greens (81 per cent) and the SPD (78 per cent). Life satisfaction is lowest among AfD voters, 68 per cent of whom are (very) satisfied with their lives. This means that life satisfaction is lower among AfD voters, but here too only a very small minority of 7 per cent are (very) dissatisfied with their lives.
