Beyond its importance for public health, the health sector offers significant opportunities for industrial development, employment and economic resilience across Africa. The side event, “Driving Health Innovation and Economic Resilience,” brought together representatives from government, industry, academia and international organisations to examine how innovation, investment and regional cooperation can strengthen Africa's health sector. Discussions addressed digital health, local pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing, and the potential of more integrated markets under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The programme also featured preliminary findings from The Value of Global Health, a study commissioned by KAS and conducted by the Charité Center for Global Health, examining the wider value of investments in global health.

Complementing the summit discussions, KAS and AHK Eastern Africa organised a breakfast dialogue bringing together African and German health-sector stakeholders. The exchange explored private-sector engagement, investment opportunities and potential partnerships. Together, the discussions highlighted the importance of conducive investment conditions, regional market integration and international cooperation in developing Africa's health industries.
