Internship at the KAS Office Tunis
Information for Applicants
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) office in Tunis offers highly motivated students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the work of a German political foundation abroad and to contribute actively to our projects and activities across North Africa. Interns become an integral part of the office team for a period of two to three months and gain valuable insight into political developments in the region as well as the day-to-day operations of an international organization. Main Areas of Responsibility
A central component of the internship is the organizational and substantive support of KAS events and projects. Interns are closely involved in the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of conferences, workshops, expert discussions, and other activities organized by the office.
Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting the planning, organization, implementation, and follow-up of events, conferences, workshops, and dialogue formats
- Assisting with communication and coordination with partners, speakers, participants, and service providers
- Providing substantive support for project activities and event preparation
- Conducting research on political, economic, and social developments in North Africa, with a particular focus on Libya, as well as Algeria and Tunisia
- Contributing to the preparation of analyses, studies, background papers, reports, and briefing materials
- Drafting event reports and summaries of current political developments
- Assisting with administrative and operational tasks within the office
- Supporting the maintenance and updating of the office website and social media channels
Depending on their qualifications and interests, interns will be entrusted with independent responsibilities and integrated into the office's ongoing project work.
Desired Profile
We particularly welcome applications from Master's students or advanced undergraduate students in political science, international relations, regional studies, economics, law, communication studies, or related disciplines.
Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in political developments in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Expertise or previous academic work related to the following topics is especially desirable:
- Tunisia
- Algeria
- Political, economic and social developments in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)
Language Skills
Required:
- Excellent command of English
- Excellent command of French
Strongly desirable:
- Good command of Arabic
- Good command of German
