From 8 to 13 June 2026, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) hosted a delegation of young Libyan professionals and civil society representatives in Berlin to strengthen Libyan-German exchange and foster future cooperation.
The programme provided insights into Germany’s political system and created space for dialogue on governance, policy-making, and Libya’s ongoing transition. Meetings with key institutions, including the German Bundestag, the Federal Foreign Office, and the Berlin House of Representatives, focused on parliamentary processes, foreign policy, and citizen-oriented governance.
A particular focus was placed on multilevel governance in Germany and the role of the federal states (Länder). During a visit to the State Parliament of Brandenburg in Potsdam, participants explored the interaction between federal and regional levels of governance.
Further exchanges with organisations such as the German-Arab Friendship Association and the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Ghorfa) highlighted perspectives on German-Arab relations and economic cooperation with Libya.
Overall, the visit strengthened networks between Libyan and German stakeholders. It forms part of KAS’s broader efforts to enhance relations between Germany and Libya and will continue to be an integral component of the foundation’s work in the future.
