KAS and JSDP Anniversary
Peter Rimmele, Resident Representative of KAS to India, emphasized in his welcome remarks that not only KAS in India can celebrate its 50th anniversary this year, but also that the JSDP can look back on a success story of 35 years. The directors of the partner organizations then introduced themselves and their current project activities. Prof. Dr. Heribert Dieter, Senior Fellow in the Research Unit on Global Issues at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, who is currently evaluating the country project India of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, discussed with the directors the cooperation with KAS and asked for an assessment of the JSDP.

Moderated by Pankaj Madan, Head Programmes of KAS, Subrata Nag Choudhury of the der Statesman Print Journalism School (SPJS), Radhakant Nayak of the National Institute of Social Work and Social Sciences (NISWASS), Devidas Ghodeswar of the Society for Sustainable Development (SSD), Ajit Kumar Pati of the Centre of Economic and Social Research (CESR), L S Ghandi Doss of the Institute of Youth and Development (IYD), Dayanand Tandon of the Centre for Rural Entrepreneurship and Technical Education (CREATE), R Vijaykumar of the Madras Management Association (MMA), Shilpa Mirashi of the Indian Institute of Youth Welfare (IIYW), Manda Parikh of the Yuvak Vikas Trust (YVT), Mayamk Upadhay of the Indian Society for Community Education (ISCE), Uday Shankar of Vishwa Yuvak Kendra (VYK), Mardi Dominic of the All India Santal Welfare and Cultural Society (AISWACS) and C. M. Krishna of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed lively possible topics for the upcoming 35th meeting of JSDP.
They agreed that the guiding theme will be "Reimagining India: Emerging Issues and Challenges".
The JSDP-conference will address five subtopics:
- Indian youth and its role in shaping India’s future
- Technology and innovation: A way forward for employment
- Secular ethics for social development
- Development and distributive justice: Challenges in present and future
- Human development and distributive justice: Challenges and responses.
